Recent events

Here are some of the appearances I made in the Los Angeles area in October and November. It was great to meet so many Wilshire and San Fernando Valley history fans, and also to talk in person with daily readers of L.A. Observed.

Saturday, October 15: Guest panelist on blogs, California First Amendment Coalition's Open Government Assembly. Cal State Fullerton, 10:30 am.

Thursday, October 20: Guest speaker, UCLA journalism class. 7 pm.

Sunday, October 23: Book signing for Society of Architectural Historians. Hennessey + Ingalls, 214 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica. 2 - 5 pm.

Tuesday, November 1: Moderator at An Evening With Los Angeles Times Editor Dean Baquet. Presented by Zócalo at the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy, 111 N. Central Avenue. 7 pm.

Saturday, November 5: Book signing and discussion. Dawson’s Books, 535 North Larchmont Blvd. 2:30 pm.

Thursday, November 10: Guest speaker on subject of "What's News? The Changing Face of Media." League of Women Voters, Biltmore Hotel. Noon.

Thursday, November 10: Guest panelist, "Knowledge or Information? Blogs, Wikis and Listservs." UC Irvine School of Humanities. 4 pm.

Monday, November 14: Guest speaker, class in media ethics at USC Annenberg School of Journalism.

Tuesday, November 15: Lunch panelist on the future of news with Mark Lisanti of Defamer.com at USC Annenberg School. Noon.

Thursday, November 17: An evening with Kevin Roderick, Eric Lynxwiler and Wilshire Boulevard: Grand Concourse of Los Angeles at the Petersen Automotive Museum, 6060 Wilshire Boulevard. 7:30 pm.

Saturday, November 19: Book signing and discussion. Skylight Books, 1818 North Vermont Avenue. 5 pm.

Saturday, November 26: Book signing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, 5905 Wilshire Boulevard. 2 pm to 4 pm.
