After a couple of years in gestation, Wilshire Boulevard: Grand Concourse of Los Angeles reaches stores in October. The book reveals a bunch of cool and unappreciated truths about the city's unofficial Main Street and its importance in the story of twentieth-century Los Angeles. It was a lot of fun to write. Fans of the city should enjoy reading about Wilshire's special place in the narrative of modern Los Angeles, and I know they will devour the 150 historical photographs. L.A. Observed, my weblog on Los Angeles media, politics and books, keeps attracting more and more favorable attention. Forbes Magazine awarded L.A. Observed Best of the Web honors in the media blog category. The Los Angeles Independent and the Downtown News joined Los Angeles Magazine and the L.A. Times in writing about the website.
